Award-Winning Therapist Creates Hospitality-Specific Programme
5 March 2026 (United Kingdom): Daniel Fryer, the award-winning psychotherapist and best-selling author, has launched a programme to build resilience in executives in the hospitality sector.
Fryer, who has drawn on his expertise in the market to create the programme, was motivated by the extreme pressures that those in hospitality currently face.
Fryer said: “There has never been more demand for hospitality from guests, who understand the value of breaking from their routine to relax and regroups, whether that is for two weeks at a yoga retreat or five minutes over a latte.
“As this demand builds, so too does the pressure on the leaders delivering these products. Rising costs and taxes, the battle for talent, issues in finding development finance, all of this is keeping those who work in the sector from performing at their best.
“I believe that, with specific problems come specific solutions, which is why I have created a programme to address stress management and foster resilience in the hospitality industry.”
Fryer is a regular attendee and speaker at conferences and events across the operational and investment arms of the hospitality sector and contributes to various publications in the market.
According to a recent survey from Hospitality Action, work/life balance concerns affected 50% of respondents – with nearly half feeling unable to separate the demands of work from their personal lives.
Of those who reported having poor work/life balance, 47% (including owners and managers) said burnout is simply ‘part of the job’. Of those who view burnout as normal, 61% had experienced poor mental health in the last year.
Fryer added: “I’ve been working in the field of stress management and resilience for more than 20 years, helping people build better coping strategies in the face of their personal and professional pressures. Often these tools help people who don’t think they can ease down or switch off realise that they can.
“My methods are action orientated and results driven, which naturally suits high-performance professionals from many sectors.”
The programme is grounded in a framework of Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy, integrating therapy, coaching and philosophy into one cohesive approach. At its core is the principle that it is not life events themselves that cause emotional distress, but the beliefs and interpretations we attach to those events. By understanding and reshaping these beliefs, meaningful and lasting change becomes possible.
Participants explore how irrational beliefs formed in the face of adversity can lead to unhelpful and non-constructive outcomes. They are guided in identifying and challenging these patterns, while developing rational, balanced beliefs that support more constructive and empowering responses to life’s challenges.
The programme combines this framework with hypnotherapy techniques and elements of positive psychology to facilitate deep mindset shifts. Through structured sessions and practical exercises, participants move from unhelpful thinking patterns to healthier, more resilient ways of responding.
A key focus of the programme is sustainability. Beyond immediate mindset change, participants develop practical tools and personalised strategies designed to support continued growth and wellbeing long after the programme has been completed.
Fryer is offering six-month and three-month programmes, in person or virtually. For those with a specific problem in mind he also offers a strategic three-hour single session approach.
Fryer is the author of two self-help books: How to Cope with Almost Anything with Hypnotherapy (Green Tea/Bloomsbury) and The Four Thoughts That F*ck You Up … and How to Fix Them (Vermillion/Penguin Random House).
