The Perfect Pairing for Peformance, Productivity and Peace of Mind
Work with me and you not only get two powerful coaching and therapy methods in one, but you also get someone who’s been wielding them successfully for more than 20 years . . .
Are you stressed? Is your mind in overdrive? Are you burning out? Do you feel that you have exhausted all your coping strategies or are about to? Do you feel you are in danger of becoming bitter, jaded, and less productive both personally and professionally? Or did that ship leave harbour long ago? If you any of this resonates, then you might be very glad you came across this post.
I’ve been in practice for more than 20 years and have worked in private practice, private healthcare, the corporate sector, education, the NHS, occupational health, and for the Priory Hospital. I also write books, run group programmes, and develop workshops and webinars. I typically, but not exclusively, use two main modalities in both a coaching and therapeutic context. Each one alone is a powerful tool for change but, when used in conjunction, the benefits (think depth, longevity, and easy of change for a start) can be absolutely amazing.
I was first trained in the use of hypnotherapy way back in 2004. Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, very similar to daydreaming, nodding off, or losing yourself in a really good book. In this trance-like state, your unconscious mind (think of it as the database of everything you are) becomes very susceptible to positive suggestions, especially when those suggestions are tied to a goal you already know you want to achieve.
Hypnotherapy has clinical, medical, psychotherapeutic, coaching, sporting and spiritual applications. Once you understand what it is, how it works, and how it can help you (and don’t worry I can explain all of that) you will be left wondering why you never tried it before (if you have never tried it before, that is) and why you haven’t used it more often (if you have tried it before).
I am also trained in the use of rational emotive behaviour therapy (REBT) and gained my masters in this subject from Goldsmiths back in 2010. Not only that, but I have extensive training in how to use it in combination with hypnotherapy (diplomas abound!).
REBT is a form of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) that works as equally well in psychotherapy (think anxiety, depression, anger-management and more) as it does in coaching (life coaching, business coaching, executive coaching, you name it).
REBT says it’s not the events in life that disturb you, but what you tell yourself about those events that does the disturbing. It deals with the realm of limiting beliefs: those that keep you stuck, stress you out, and prevent your effective recovery. It helps you uncover them, dismantle them, and exchange them for a series of beliefs that are far more empowering, way more liberating, and a lot more in line with how you want to be.
When you put REBT and hypnotherapy together, not only are you attacking your limiting beliefs consciously, using tried and tested techniques and strategies, but you are also backing up everything unconsciously, using the power of suggestion. Think of REBT and hypnotherapy as a double whammy that can truly align your mind and bring you greater clarity, productivity, freedom and focus.
Studies have shown that pairing hypnotherapy with CBT-type therapies substantially enhances treatment outcomes (you can click here for one of those).
My first book, The Four Thoughts That F*ck You Up and how to fix them (click here), published by Penguin Random House, was all about REBT and how to use it. My second book, How to Cope with Almost Anything with Hypnotherapy (click here), was published by Bloomsbury. It is designed to help you enhance both your wellbeing and resilience. Together, both of these books neatly encapsulate what it is that I do.
I typically work with high-performance and results-driven people who want strategies that help prevent chronic stress and burnout (including burnout syndrome) from happening, or who want to recover from it faster and more effectively if they think they already have it. This includes C-suite executives, international English-speaking expats, SME business owners, consultants, perfectionists, those who hate handing over control, those who can’t handle change and uncertainty, and more.
If these sound like you or, if any of the above sounds like something that could help you, why not book a free discovery call with me to find out more.
I can work with you one-to-one across a series of sessions, I can work with you in groups of friends or colleagues (if you want to spread the cost or prefer the interaction that comes with a group dynamic) plus, I also offer a highly targeted single session service. I call it One Shot and you can find out more about it here.
